Inductees Announced for the Wellington Region Business Hall of Fame
The eight businesses to be inducted into the Wellington Region Business Hall of Fame have been announced by the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
This year the eight inductees are: Wedgelock Equipment Limited, phil&teds, Hills Hats, Hansells Masterton, Sharpes Stockfeeds, L G Anderson, Flight Plastics, and Coastlands Shoppingtown. These companies join an impressive stable of some of the most iconic businesses across the Wellington region. The eight inductees will be officially honoured at a gala event to take place at the Silverstream Retreat on Friday, 23 August 2019.
The Wellington Region Business Hall of Fame is an annual event which honours longevity and sustained business performance, “the ultimate measure of business success,” says Helen Down, Chief Executive of The Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“These businesses typically fly under the radar. Operating for so long and so well-known in their communities, they tend to become ‘part of the furniture’ and almost invisible. The Wellington Region Business Hall of Fame seeks to bring them out into the open and honour their superb achievements, along with the important role they play in the social and economic fabric of our communities.”
To be inducted into the Wellington Region Business Hall of Fame, businesses are nominated by the business community and are independently researched and judged. This year’s eight inductees were selected from 16 nominated businesses. Judges look for evidence they have not only developed a long-term sustainable business and have been successful in adapting to change in their industries and markets.
Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO, Helen Down, believes these companies are excellent examples of businesses that not only contribute to the regional economy but also to the overall wellbeing of their respective local communities. “The aim of the Wellington Region Business Hall of Fame is to recognise and celebrate significant contributions by businesses to the economic and social fabric of our region. To be inducted into the Hall of Fame these eight businesses show the diversity, dedication and resilience required to have a meaningful impact on the communities in which we all live, work and play,” says Helen.
