The Board of the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appointed Helen Down as its new CEO.
Chamber President and Acting CEO Neville Hyde announced today that Helen Down will take up the role on 1 November 2018.
Neville Hyde says, “We are delighted to be welcoming Helen Down to this role. She brings a very strong career in international and local business. Her skills and expertise in business leadership, management, governance, marketing and sales will be very beneficial to our organisation and our members. The Board considers her an excellent fit for our organisation being able to strongly represent the view of the Chamber, its membership and the business community.”
The Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce is regarded as one of the most successful Chambers in the country. As the economic hub of the Hutt Valley business community, it represents the voice of a diverse range of local businesses across the wider Wellington region. The Chamber has developed a strong membership and partnership base, along with very productive working relationships with local and central government.
Neville says, “The Chamber has had a very successful year in 2018 and we are now looking forward to building on this in 2019. There are many new opportunities for the organisation and with an excellent team in place, we are in a great position to further build on our successes. The Board looks forward to supporting Helen in her new role.”
The appointment of the new CEO coincides with the Hutt Valley Chamber’s upcoming signature annual event - The Wellington Region Business Excellence Awards. This event coincides with the Chamber celebrating its 75th anniversary and is to be held on the 30th November at the new Lower Hutt Events Centre.
