The Lower Hutt Foodbank provides emergency food parcels for families and people in need in Lower Hutt. Each parcel contains enough food for 1 week. We give out around 2000 food parcels each year. With little or no public funding we rely on the generosity of the community to donate food and money for our running costs. We get some grant money from NZ Lottery Community Grants, Pub Charity, Hutt City Council Community Development Grants and Four Winds Trust. The Lower Hutt business community organises food donations which are appreciated, but we also need money for rent, Client Manager salary and general running expenses.
