Te Omanga Hospice provides palliative care through an interdisciplinary team of specialist doctors, nurses, therapists and specially trained volunteers to those living with a life limiting condition in the Hutt Valley. We also support the delivery of palliative care in Aged Residential Care, the Hutt Hospital and in conjunction with General Practitioners. Our services are also delivered through Community Home Care, Day Care and our Inpatient Unit. Our Palliative Care team is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for consultation and advice to patients, their families and their primary care team. Te Omanga’s 10 bed Inpatient Unit in Lower Hutt provides back-up support for symptom control, respite care and terminal cares. Our service also supports the family and close friends of patients, offering social work, counselling support and complementary therapies for adults and children. Te Omanga also provides specialist medical services to GPs in the Wairarapa through a weekly outpatient clinic and being available 24/7 for advice. Te Omanga’s services are free but it does cost to deliver them. To make a donation online to support Te Omanga’s work throughout the Greater Hutt region please visit www.teomanga.org.nz.
Te Omanga Hospice, in partnership with the Hutt Valley community and the District Health Board will continue to be a Centre of Excellence in Specialist Palliative Care locally and as a point of reference for our New Zealand and international colleagues.
